Me Made: Zadie Jumpsuit Top
I made this top in July of 2019 but only realised yesterday that I'd never shared photos of it. I also never shared the awesome story behind it so, here it is!
When I first posted about moving to Japan on Instagram, a lovely sewist reached out to me. It was Emilia! We ended up getting dinner together a few weeks after I arrived in Tokyo and became very fast friends. Emilia and her husband are both incredibly smart and creative people who make all sorts of things. Visiting their apartment was like stepping into the pages of a home styling magazine except many of the items filling the space were actually made by them including, a whole speaker system!
One day, Emilia told me that she had been to a clothing swap event and found something for me. It was a dress made in Liberty Tana Lawn. At the event she also met the owner of the dress who told her that she had another dress in the same fabric AND that she would send it to her. How cool is that?
Emilia gifted me both dresses a little while later and it was clear that she GOT me. Both dresses were too small but had heaps of fabric in them that would be perfect for taking apart and remaking. I ended up with just enough fabric for a special make and decided to try the Zadie Jumpsuit Hack inspired by Catherine from Thread Snips. Here are the results!
I love that this make has special memories sewn into it. It reminds me of how grateful I am for the sewing community and how it brings creative people together. <3
