Me Made: Hand Painted Maya Dress

Ive been feeling a bit uninspired lately so I set myself a challenge to try and get the sewjo flowing again. I bought some acrylic paints and had a go at designing my own fabric to sew into a dress and here are the results!

I am not a painter and even thinking of what to paint took me out of my comfort zone. I love ginghams and colourful plaids so I decided to come up with my own combo of the two, combining a bunch of different colours and brushes iin different sizes to achieve this bold handpainted plaid. I loved picking the colour pallette and seeing the plaid come together as I added more lines. When I finished the dress, I had just enough fabric left over to make a collar to match and I think it really completed the look.

Sometimes we lose inspiration, motivation or our sewjo and thats ok! Just give it a little bit of time, maybe step out of your comfort zone and try a new craft and it will find its way back. Hope this creation makes you smile :)
